DESCRIPTION This unit presents the rationale and elements of a vocational pedagogy for technological education. It tackles those elements that are general to a vocational pedagogy and also those elements and methods that are specific to knowledge domains within national vocational technological curricula covered at the secondary level of schooling.

Study-Unit Aims:

- To present a pedagogy for vocational technology education;
- To present methods for competence building and assessment within a vocational context for technology education.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Discuss a rationale for technological vocational education and its related pedagogies;
- Identify the general elements constituting a vocational pedagogy;
- Identify domain specific elements constituting a vocational pedagogy.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Apply a vocational pedagogy for knowledge within technological vocational subject domains with focus on the national context;
- Plan the development of competencies within technological vocational education;
- Plan the assessment of competencies within technological vocational education.
