DESCRIPTION | By attending this unit, students will become familiar with one of the most popular creative editing programmes worldwide. Photoshop CC is used by studios large and small alike and has become an indispensable tool for any designer. Activities during this course will include photo retouching, creating colour palettes and using masks - among many other tools. Students will have 2 finished artworks in hand if they attend all lessons accordingly. Learning Objectives: - Get to know the user interface of Photoshop; - Start using the most-used tools on Photoshop; - Get familiar with the workflow on Photoshop through workshop practice; - Introduce students to great blogs/websites online which they can follow to stay inspired. Unit Material: Students are encouraged to start following creative blogs (whether graphic design, photography or any other design related material) to inspire them and keep them updated with the current trends in the design field. Appropriate unit material will be provided by the tutors during the sessions. There are no set texts for the unit, though tutors may recommend appropriate manuals to students who would like to take their work in this area further. Assessment: In keeping with the spirit of Degree Plus, there is no formal assessment associated with the unit. Students will however be assigned practical tasks to carry out under the supervision of the unit tutor both alone and in teams. This will allow monitoring of their progress in their use of the software and in ways they tackle problem-solving. A certificate of attendance and of satisfactory completion of the unit will be provided at the end of the semester. Note: Degree Plus units are not designed to be incrementally burdensome in terms of the many academic demands placed on students during their undergraduate years. |
