Event Title: Book Launch - Fostering Entrepreneurship Education: A Handbook for Teachers, by Dr Leonie Baldacchino and Ms Shirley Pulis Xerxen

Date: Monday 18th November

Time: 08.30 - 12.00

Venue: The Hall of St. Nicholas College, Attard Primary School

Event Details:

Entrepreneurship is an increasingly desirable activity in Europe and beyond, as it is widely considered to be the backbone of the economy. The European Commission has repeatedly stressed the importance of cultivating an entrepreneurial culture or mindset, as entrepreneurs who start up their own business are a major source of job creation, innovation and economic growth. Entrepreneurship - or more specifically, "a sense of initiative and entrepreneurship" - has recently been listed by the European Commission as one of the eight key competences for life.

This event officially launched a new Handbook for school teachers which will enable them to foster a culture of entrepreneurship through their teaching. It was developed in response to various calls by the European Commission to develop tool boxes of entrepreneurial teaching methods and effective teaching resources to foster entrepreneurship through education. This Handbook consists of almost 200 suggestions, activities and strategies for infusing entrepreneurship across the curriculum at all levels of compulsory education.

The publication of this Handbook was partly funded by the Malta National Enterprise Support Awards (NESA) upon an initiative of St. Nicholas College in collaboration with The Edward de Bono Institute, University of Malta.
