The Edward de Bono Institute for the Design and Development of Thinking at the University of Malta is proud to announce its participation in CURIO, a three year Erasmus+ project which is being coordinated by The Institute of Digital Games at the University of Malta. The other project participants are PlaceHolder Interactive (Malta), University of Venice (Italy), and University of Skövde (Sweden).

The CURIO Project, a strategic partnership action funded under the ERASMUS+ programme, is entitled ‘A Teaching Toolkit for Fostering Scientific Curiosity’. It was launched on the 19 January 2018 at the University of Malta Valletta Campus. The project aims to engage students at elementary school level in science related topics and to stimulate their scientific curiosity.

The CURIO toolkit that the project will design and launch will allow teachers and students to author scenarios that can then be played in a gamified, virtual environment. The plan for the forthcoming three years of the project was presented at the kick-off event.

Stakeholders and future users of the toolkit were presented with highlights on technical innovation, new pedagogical opportunities, and the various envisaged social benefits at the kickoff event. The speakers were Dr Stefano Gualeni from the Institute of Digital Games, University of Malta, Professor Sandra M Dingli from The Edward de Bono Institute at the University of Malta and Marcello Gómez Maureira from Placeholder Interactive.
