DESCRIPTION This study-unit introduces students to the concepts of creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship and highlights their importance for new and existing organisations.

Organisations operate in a rapidly changing environment and face a constant flow of challenges. Many organisations are becoming increasingly aware that, in order to survive and thrive, they must embrace change, enable idea generation and manage innovation across all levels and functions of the organisation. To do so, they need intrapreneurs (entrepreneurial employees) who initiate and drive innovation.

Study-unit Aims:

This study-unit aims at fostering an entrepreneurial mindset among students by facilitating their development into proactive, flexible and creative thinkers. This will, in turn enable them to become entrepreneurs or intrapreneurs who are able to generate and manage ideas, thereby maximising the innovative capability of new and existing organisations.

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- explain the links between creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship and intreapreneurship;
- demonstrate the use of creative thinking tools and techniques for idea generation;
- outline ways in which innovation can be assessed, encouraged and managed within an organisation.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- identify opportunities rather than threats in the changing environment;
- generate ideas for new products, services, processes, etc.;
- assess the level of innovation in organisations;
