World Creativity and Innovation Week (WCIW) was first launched in 2001 and is now celebrated in an ever growing number of countries.  The aim of WCIW is to inspire new thinking and to foster a culture for creativity and innovation.

The United Nations resolved to include World Creativity and Innovation Day, April 21 as a Day of Observance to encourage people to use creativity in problem-solving for all issues related to achieving the 2015 Sustainable Development Goals.  

In celebration of World Creativity and Innovation Week, the Edward de Bono Institute is organizing the following events:


Strategic Decision Game

Dr Joanna Radomska from Strategic Management Department at Wroclaw University of Economics will deliver an interactive game-based workshop about aspects of decision making in organisations.

Leading Strategic Change 

Dr Joanna Radomska from Strategic Management Department at Wroclaw University of Economics will deliver engaging workshop on how to manage organizational change, difficult co-workers and other team dynamics.

Venue: CHB 327 (Chemistry and Pharmacology Building) - University of Malta, Msida Campus. 


Everyday Creativity.  Sustainable practices from a food preparation and fashion perspective.

This event is being held at the University of Malta, Msida Campus in collaboration with the Department of Health, Physical Education and Consumer Studies within the Faculty of Education.  Dr Lorraine Portelli and her students will hold practical workshops about creative and sustainable ideas related to food preparation and fashion and clothing.  These engaging sessions will be offered to undergraduate students.  

The event will take place on April 11, 2019

Venue: University of Malta, Msida Campus.


Undertones. A Mental Health and Arts Seminar

During this seminar, various experts will explore different areas related to mental health and the arts.  Dr Margaret Mangion will deliver a presentation about The Psychology of Being Creative.  This presentation will look at different aspects of creativity from a psychological perspective while linking the topic to sustainable personal development.

Exploring Approaches to Nudge for Sustainable Practices.  A mini Hackathon.

The Edward de Bono Institute is organizing this event in collaboration with the Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development with the support of the Mediterranean Conference Centre.  During this event, delegates from industry, academics, and members of the general public will explore ideas leading to potential new ways to encourage active engagement in implementing sustainable practices.  Following introductions by Dr Therese Bajada and Ms Margaret Camilleri Fenech from the Institute for Climate Change and Sustainable Development, under the supervision of Dr Margaret Mangion, students and alumni from the Edward de Bono Institute will facilitate creative thinking sessions with the aim of generating ideas.

The event will take place on April 12, 2019

Venue: Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta.
