About us

The Centre for Resilience and Socio-Emotional Health has been set up to develop and promote the science and evidence-based practice of social and emotional health and resilience in children and young people.

We operate as a transdisciplinary research centre tapping into the various strands of research and expertise provided by the different disciplines in the field. We conduct research and development work in the area, seeking to address local and national needs while contributing to knowledge in the international domain. Our Centre also serves as a regional base for ENSEC, a European network for researchers and practitioners working in the area of social and emotional competence. 
 
Our main goals include:
  • establishing collaborative partnerships with local, European and international researchers and practitioners to promote socio-emotional health and resilience in children and young persons
  • conducting and publishing local, European and international research to promote social and emotional health and resilience and in the prevention of social, emotional and behaviour difficulties in children and young persons
  • developing and promoting empirically-grounded and theoretically-sound intervention and prevention strategies in socio-emotional health and resilience in children and young persons
  • disseminating knowledge and promoting learning and teaching about best practices and relevant research in socio-emotional health and resilience
  • providing consultation and engaging in developmental work in various educational, clinical and social settings to promote of socio-emotional health and resilience and the prevention of social, emotional and behaviour difficulties
  • providing advanced research-based education and training to practitioners, educators and other professionals at local and cross-European levels
  • serving as a local and regional base for the European Network in Social and Emotional Competence.
