The Centre for the Study and Practice of Conflict Resolution hosts the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Chair for Peace at the University of Malta, sponsored by the Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation. The Chair for Peace was established in 2021 to serve the personal, social and cultural and development of peace values and principles through the study and research of peace in Europe, the Arab world and beyond, in accordance with human rights and principles of democracy. In pursuance of its mission, The Abdulaziz Saud Albabtain Cultural Foundation recognises the urgency to intensify exchanges and collaborative relations that target social progress and sustainable growth in the overall interest of peace and coexistence between people.

To this end, the established Chair for Peace provides for:

• an annual exchange between scholars from the University of Malta and the MENA;
• an annual academic seminar focused on ‘Building a Culture of Peace’;
• an annual Distinguished Lecture promoting a culture of peace, justice and human rights for all; and
• a scholarship for one student to pursue the MA Conflict Resolution and Mediterranean Security Programme offered by the Centre together with the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution at George Mason University (USA).
