German? – German!

Studying languages means experiencing different cultures as well as training essential skills. With more than 100 million native speakers, German is the most widely spoken language in the EU, one of its three working languages and an official language in six countries of Europe: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Liechtenstein. The German-speaking countries are a major, multi-facetted cultural hub in the middle of Europe. As Europe’s largest economy and most populous country of the European Union, Germany is one of the most important trading partners of Malta. Furthermore, a significant share of the tourists in Malta are German-speaking, and the scientific, political and cultural exchange between Malta and Germany is ever increasing. German matters more and more – in Malta and world-wide.

This session will include an introduction to German and Germany through a quiz, information on studying at the Department of German and on learning German in general. Younger school students have the opportunity to write a “postcard from Germany”. No previous knowledge of German is required for this. Surprise yourself and a friend!

The sessions will be held as follows:
Tuesday, 28 October, 1000hrs - 1100hrs
Thursday, 30 October, 1100hrs - 1200hrs
