Professional Doctorate in Educational Leadership Board of Studies

The Professional Doctorate in Educational Leadership examines the conceptual, organisational, political, social, managerial, interpersonal, and technical dimensions of schools and other educational institutions as you prepare for senior education leadership and policy positions or else are already operating at this level. This doctorate includes a core component of taught courses, and research classes that emphasise critical analysis of contemporary issues of practice undertaken in collaborative study environments with professors, school leaders, and other doctoral students.

Our programme emphasises collaboration and reflective practice. We model this in our learning community by forming cohorts of students, including small teams within those cohorts, and by placing a high value on problem-solving through the creation and implementation of new educational approaches.

Mission

The mission of the Professional Doctorate in Educational Leadership is to positively impact peoples’ lives, educational institutions and systems through high-quality scholarship, rigorous instructional practice and networked learning. We prepare action-oriented and transformative leaders, policymakers, and researchers who are committed to equity and social justice in education.

Vision

The vision of the Professional Doctorate in Educational Leadership is to play an integral role in enhancing the field’s capacity to promote excellence, equity and social justice in education by nurturing organisations into communities of learning.

  • Conduct high-quality research that is both informed by and useful to education policy, leadership, and practice.
  • Prioritise dissemination and access to research and data for practitioners, policymakers, and communities.
  • Work collaboratively within the Professional Doctorate cohort and partnerships both locally and abroad, including through facilitating professional development opportunities that is responsive to the needs of the field.
  • Engage in continuous improvement of the programme to ensure that it reflects cutting edge research and encourages critical reflection to prepare more engaged researchers and practitioners.
