Welcome to the Department for Inclusion and Access to Learning

The Department for Inclusion and Access to Learning is a new department within the Faculty of Education. The Programme for Inclusive Education and lately the Unit for Inclusion and Access to Learning has preceded the Department. The formation of the Department was approved by Senate at its meeting of 29 May, 2015.

The Department runs the Undergraduate Diploma in Facilitating Education and coordinates the Master in Access to Education. At present the Master programme has three streams: Inclusive Schools and Communities, Cultural Responsive Education and the specialisation in Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD).

The Department services the various departments within the Faculty of Education and other Faculties through the coordination and delivery of study units focusing on diversity, Universal Design for Learning, disability issues, and differentiated pedagogy.

In the coming years we seek to extend our collaboration with other departments and faculties, the Directorates of Education and other local and foreign universities, centres and institutes to deliver specialised courses in the area of Inclusion.
