Open access area

The Faculty of Education provides an Open Access Study Area on the first floor (Room 224).

This space has been designed as an informal collaborative learning space which can also be used for specific activities and meetings. The Open Access Study Area is equipped with four networked workstations running commonly used application packages and various statistical and educational software, as well as a tutors' machine which is connected to a data/video projector and interactive whiteboard. Users are also welcome to connect their own devices to the large monitors using an HDMI connection. 

The Open Access Study Area can be booked for tutorials, specific activities/seminars or private meetings for a maximum of four hours per day. During the remaining time and when not pre-booked, the space will be open to staff and students for private study, group work or practice using the interactive whiteboard. Consult the Open Access Study Area Calendar to check opening times as these will vary on a daily basis.

The Open Access Study Area includes:

  • B&W printing (through your UM IT Account)
  • informal seating area.
