DESCRIPTION | Study-unit Aims: The study-unit covers various techniques and activities that should be adopted in an outdoor educational setting. It is divided into two parts; theoretical and practical. The areas covered in this study-unit are intended to equip the students with the necessary skills and ability to plan and execute outdoor educational adventure activities for school aged students. Learning Outcomes: Through a three days, residential camp the students will be able to: - Analyse map reading and compass work; - Identify and execute orienteering and navigational demands; - Define clues to solve a treasure hunt; - Prepare a cradle and light up a fire for outdoor cooking; - Organise team building games; - Demonstrate the logistics behind an outdoor educational adventure activity; - Apply rope work to different adventure scenarios; - Locate and build an aerial ropeway. - Display the appropriate technique to abseil.
