12th and 13th May 2015 - Jean Monnet Chair Conference on An Evolving EU Engaging a Changing Mediterranean Region

The third Jean Monnet Chair Conference on 'An Evolving EU Engaging a Changing Mediterranean Region' was held at Dar l-Ewropa, Valletta on Monday 12th May, 2015. The conference formed part of activities led by Professor Roderick Pace (Jean Monnet Chair and Director of the Institute for European Studies) focusing on research and teaching on the changes taking place in the EU and the Euro-Mediterranean region.

A workshop on 'Euro-Mediterranean Security: How can New Dynamism Be Introduced in the EU Mediterranean Policy?' was held the day after the conference

5 May 2014 - Conference at Dar l-Ewropa

The Institute for European Studies organized the second Jean Monnet Chair Conference on 'An Evolving EU Engaging a Changing Mediterranean Region'. This years' edition was once again held at Dar l-Ewropa, Valletta on Monday 5th May, 2014.

The conference formed part of the activities led by Professor Roderick Pace (Jean Monnet Chair and Director of the Institute for European Studies) focusing on research and teaching on the changes taking place in the EU and the Euro-Mediterranean region. Supported by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme, the conference hosted resident academics from the University of Malta, from foreign universities, research professionals, experts and scholars. This year's Conference was held in conjunction with Malta's tenth year anniversary of full E.U. membership.

15 October 2013 - Conference at Dar l-Ewropa

The Annual Conference for the Jean Monnet Chair 'An Evolving EU Engaging a Changing Mediterranean Region' was held on Tuesday 15th October, at Dar l-Ewropa, Valletta. The conference involved discussions and presentation of reports on the Chair's working-themes, followed by a panel discussion exploring working-theme two, with a focus on 'Constitution writing and the consolidation of Democracy in the EU’s Mediterranean Neighbourhood'.

20 December 2012 - Colloquium at Dar L-Ewropa

The colloquium was held to start the research part of the Jean Monnet Chair. The colloquium, which was chaired by Prof. Roderick Pace, Jean Monnet Chair at the University of Malta, was attended by Prof. Fulvio Attina of the University of Catania, Prof. Aylin Güney Jean Monnet Chair at Yasar University, Izmir, Prof. Magnús Árni Magnússon, Bifrost University, Iceland and Dr Stelios Stavridis, ARAID Researcher, University of Zaragoza. Dr Mark Harwood, Dr Marcello Carammia, Mr Stefano Moncada, Ms Moira Catania and Mr Jean Micallef Grimaud, from the Institute of European Studies, also attended. A number of M.A. students and a Ph.D. student, from the Institute for European Studies, were also in attendance. A presentation on each of the working-themes was carried out by the respective working-team co-ordinators during the colloquium. The reports were discussed amongst the academic discussants present at the meeting, with participation from the floor.
