Malta Review of Educational Research (MRER)
Special Issue on Shaping Museum Futures
Predicting museum futures is no mean feat. Being unreasonably bold would be faced with the challenges of the now that would acknowledge much more what comes across as reasonable. It may be reasonable for us to predict the evolution of the traditional museum into a public space run by a participatory management model. It may succeed in becoming a polyphonic space that is inclusive and open to critical conversations about past, present and futures with a strong informal and non-formal learning framework. This special issue seeks to explore and present the latest research informing the museum landscape, particularly, albeit not exclusively with regards to the following three focus areas: Museums as champions of climate change awareness; Democratising and transforming museums into inclusive and communal places; and Museums and artificial intelligence.
