About

The University of Malta (UM) is at the forefront of local research, collaborating with and contributing to the wider, international academic community. Following the success of the University of Malta’s first Research Expo last year, the University of Malta Research Expo 2024 (UMRE 2024) will be held on 29 May 2024 at the Mediterranean Conference Centre (MCC).

The aim of the UMRE 2024 is to give researchers from UM the opportunity to network and showcase their research activities with the wider UM community. By coming together and celebrating their work, UMRE 2024 serves as a meeting point where ideas can be shared and cross-pollinated in an interdisciplinary forum.

Apart from highlighting the research conducted by academics and researchers, UMRE 2024 will also incorporate the traditional Doctoral symposium - allowing us to also celebrate the latest and up-and-coming research of doctoral students.

The event will include sessions consisting of short pitches (5-minute presentation + 5-minute Q&A) and sessions in the traditional Doctoral Researchers Symposium format (15-minute presentation + 5-minute Q&A), the latter available for presentation of work by UM doctoral candidates only. A poster session (open to all eligible applicants) will also be organised.

This year's keynote addresses will be given by:

Robin A. Nelson, Professor Emeritus of Theatre, Intermedial Performance and Practice Research, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, UK

Kannan Pashupathy, Former Director of Global Engineering, Research and Product Management at Google Inc., and current Board Member at Solidaridad.
