Jonathan Dingli holds a Bachelor of Accountancy Honours degree from the University of Malta, having graduated with a First Class (Honours) classification in 2002. He is a Certified Public Accountant and is also a Fellow Member of the Malta Institute of Accountants. His specialises in International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

At the University of Malta, Jonathan lectures in financial reporting. Prior to joining University, Jonathan lectured for the ACCA Advanced IFRS Paper (P2) for BPP in Malta and internationally between 2008 and 2012. His research interests include accounting and financial reporting by non publicly accountable entities (NPAEs) and small and medium sized entities (SMEs). His interest in this research area started from his active involvement in the drafting of the Maltese General Accounting Principles for Smaller Entities (GAPSE) during 2007 and 2008.

Jonathan joined KPMG's Accounting Advisory Services team in 2012 and has been involved in providing technical advice on various IFRS issues. He also assisted clients in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and in delivering training sessions on specific IFRS matters.

Prior to returning to KPMG, Jonathan led the Malta Institute of Accountants' Technical Department for seven years during which period he wrote a number of technical pronouncements on the application of IFRS to specific local circumstances. During his term of office, Jonathan also represented the Institute on local and international fora. Jonathan was also the editor of the Institute's quarterly journal 'the Accountant' between 2005 and 2012.  

Before joining the Institute, Jonathan also worked for a number of years with KPMG in Malta and in Dublin during which he was assigned on a number of audits of high level clients both locally and overseas.
