Dr. Consiglio teaches Banking Regulation and International Banking Law in the Department of Banking & Finance, International Economics in the Department of Diplomatic Studies, and Economics of Sport in the Institute for Physical Education & Sport in the University of Malta.  He studied at the University of Malta, Manchester Business School, University of Wales, Rome, and Columbia University in New York. His professional experience for over 42 years was as a banker with Barclays, Mid-Med, and HSBC banks in Malta and overseas. For over ten years he served as Chairman of Malta’s fiscal tribunal (appeals). He is now also a governor on the Board of Malta’s Financial Services Regulator, Chairman of the national Fiscal Remissions Supervisory Board, and Treasurer of Malta’s oldest charity the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bugeja.  Dr. Consiglio’s main research interests are in banking regulation,  international economics, and the economics of banking. He has published extensively in professional journals, as also books on the  History of Banking in Malta, and in the Mediterranean. During his professional career he has travelled extensively to London, Rome, Bahrain, India, Malaysia, and North Africa.  Besides teaching he is also often called to supervise students undergraduate and postgraduate theses.  He has now been closely involved with the Department of Banking & Finance for some 20 years.
