In October 1961, I joined the Education Department as an Emergency Primary School Teacher. After following a two-year teachers’ training course (1963-65), I joined the Education Department as a regular teacher and taught in primary schools for 3 years. From 1971 to 1992, I taught in the secondary sector where I taught Mathematics up to ‘O’ level and Pure Mathematics at ‘A’ Level. In April 1992, I was appointed Education Assistant for Mathematics and in July 1995, I was appointed Education Officer for Mathematics. I retired from this job in July 2005.


The qualifications include B.Sc(Hons), (UMIST, 1971), Graduate Diploma in Statistics (Royal Statistical Society, 1991), M.Sc (City University, 1994), Postgraduate Diploma in educational and Planning in Small States (University of Malta, 1995) and M.Ed (Exeter University, 2009). In 1998, I was elected by the Institute Of Mathematicsand its Applications as Chartered Mathematicians (C.Maths), Member of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (MIMA) and Chartered Scientist (C.Sci). I was admitted to the status of Graduate Statistician (GradStat) by the Royal Statistical Society in 2009.


I started as a part-time lecturer in 1994 at the Gozo Centre of the University of Malta where I ran courses in Statistics and Mathematics. Since 1995, I have been lecturing at the University of Malta in Statistics in a number of degree courses. In August 2009, I was appointed senior part-time lecturer.
