Erasmus Exchange Program - Overview

The Erasmus Programme (EuRopean Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students) is a European Union student exchange programme running for over 20 years. It forms a major part of the EU Lifelong Learning Programme and is the operational framework for the European Commission's initiatives in higher education.

There are currently more than 4,000 higher institutions participating in Erasmus across the 33 countries involved in Erasmus and over 2.2 million students have already taken part.

The Marketing Department encourages students, administrative staff and academic faculty members to participate in the programme.

The Erasmus Programme is open to three types of cohorts:

  • Students studying for a degree or diploma and must have completed their first year.
  • Administrative staff with a University Council appointment.
  • Faculty members with a University Council appointment.
