DESCRIPTION The study-unit introduces the key elements in financial management as they relate to logistics and transportation. It will deal with financial analysis and the range of types of financial decisions in the context of achieving an organization's objectives . Emphasis will be laid on the relevance of adequate financial planning, with particular focus on different types of financing and their cost. as well as on the management of working capital in this sector. The strong link between finance and management and the need to take account of broader strategic issues is also recognized throughout the study-unit.

Study-unit Aims

To introduce sound awareness of fundamental financial principles and practices as applicable to the area of logistics and transportation.

Learning Outcomes

1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:

analyze the major elements of published financial statements, apply basic investment appraisal models, distinguish between various forms of financing and assess corporate working capital positions

2. Skills (including transferable [generic] skills): By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
