DESCRIPTION | This study-unit will provide the students with a general overview of the concept of Human Resource Management, including an exploration of the main roles and responsibilities of Human Resource Managers. The issues of concern include, among others,assessing staff requirements; staff recruitment; personnel development and training; and, personnel management within the Maltese context and with particular focus on the Logistics and Transportation sector's needs. Study-unit Aims This study unit aims to provide the student with a basic understanding of the issues of concern to the Human Resource Manager and their role in the smooth operation of the industry. The study unit will help the student reach a better understanding of the role of managers in team building and staff development. Learning Outcomes 1. Knowledge & Understanding: By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: - recognise the different roles and responsibilities of the Human Resources Manager - identify the conditions for good team building - Distinguish between different staff and staffing needs - Recognise the benefits of staff management and development. - Interpret legal framework for HR management in Malta 2. Skills (including transferable [generic] skills): By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to: Contribute to HR decision processes with a better understanding of their roles and responsibilities.
