The Department of Health Services Management aims to achieve excellence and to develop an international standing in education and research within the field of Health Services Management both within the University of Malta and beyond. Our department has been offering postgraduate courses in Health Services Management since 1992. From 1992 to 2006, we offered a Post Qualification Diploma (P.Q.D) in Health Services Management. This was phased out following the introduction of the Masters programmes offered today. The courses offered by the department consistently attract a multidisciplinary cohort of professionals from the health and social field, amongst others.
Apart from our postgraduate programmes, we provide academic services to Departments within the Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery and the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy within the University of Malta. Our expertise has also extended to Universities of high standing within Europe and beyond with staff members being engaged as visiting lecturers, supervisors and examiners.
We are very active in research and collaborate extensively with local and international partners on a number of research projects covering a diverse body of topics in the field. Our staff members have published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, books and reports besides presenting our research in international and local conferences.
We are on editorial boards of international peer-reviewed journals and are actively involved in international organisations, namely, American Academy of Management, Health Care Management Division; European Health Management Association; and European Public Health Association. Additionally, we have earned recognition from internationally high-ranking universities and associations.
