Reaching Syros by plane

Arriving in Athens:

The biggest airport Greece and close to Cyclades islands (including Syros) is the airport of Athens also known as Eleftherios Venizelos airport.

You can find here interactive maps indicating international destinations and flight companies (including low cost) landing in Athens.

Arriving in Syros:

Syros has an airport for domestic flights. The only company that flies to Syros (almost once a day) is Sky Express.

Option 1:

Arriving in Athens:

Follow the instructions above

From airport to the port of Piraeus:

Take the bus (X96) to the Piraeus port (it takes about 1 hour) and get off at the last stop which is in the port of Piraeus (6 Euros).

There is also a metro service from the Airport to the port of Piraeus (it takes about 1.5 hours). You will need to change line at Monastiraki station (10 Euros). 

Taxi is also an option (it takes less than 1 hour) (38 Euros - confirm the price when you take the taxi. There is usually a fixed rate).

From port of Piraeus to Syros:

Take the boat to Syros. You can check for timetables here (choose from Piraeus to Syros). It is advisable to book in advance as it is the period of Easter and the island is quite busy. 

Option 2:

Arriving in Mykonos island:

The are some intentional flights to the neighboring island of Mykonos. Information about the airport can be found here.

Arriving in Syros:

Take the boat from Mykonos to Syros (about 1 hour trip). You can check for timetables here (choose from Mykonos to Syros).
