DESCRIPTION This study-unit will continue to build and apply into practice theory gained from the study-unit RAD4123. It will delve deeper into the radiographers' role as an educator and a researcher. The role of the radiographer as an educator will be addressed, whereby students will be expected to draw up and deliver teaching sessions to other students on an assigned subject area. The role of a radiographer as a researcher will also be highlighted, particularly the importance of disseminating results to promote radiography research to a wider audience.

This study-unit will be delivered through a series of lectures which will address the following:
- The role of the radiographer as an educator;
- Theories of teaching and learning;
- Different methods of teaching;
- Disseminating research results;
- Different methods of disseminating research results;
- Abiding to publisher, journal or conference guidelines.

Study-Unit Aims:

The aim of this study-unit is to develop students’ understanding and appreciation of:
- The role of the radiographer as an educator;
- Teaching and learning; 
- Drawing up and delivering a lecture session;
- The role of the radiographer as a researcher;
- Composing a conference poster;
- Writing a paper for publication.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Be an educator to various categories of people, such as the public, patients, health care workers and students;
- Design and deliver a teaching session on an assigned area related to radiography;
- Identify and describe different methods to disseminate research findings;
- Prepare a paper for publication.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Design and develop an educational session;
- Plan and deliver a teaching session with students and/or others.
- Apply publisher, journal or conference guidelines when disseminating results;
- Prepare and write a paper for publication.
