Post of Full Time Radiography Practice Demonstrator - Area of specialisation Radiotherapy
Department of Radiography – Faculty of Health Sciences


Applications are invited for the post of Full Time Radiography Practice Demonstrator in the Department of Radiography area of specialisation – Radiotherapy, within the Faculty of Healthy Sciences of the University of Malta. 

The post will be offered on a full-time definite contract basis of one year with the possibility to further renew for three years.

The appointee will be required to contribute to the teaching, clinical practice and other activities of the Department of Radiography within the Faculty of Health Sciences, and as may be required by the University. 

Candidates must be qualified registered radiographers in Malta (radiotherapy or medical imaging and radiotherapy).

Eligibility

For the position of Radiography Practice Demonstrator, applicants must be at least in possession of an EQF Level 6 qualification in Radiography, Radiotherapy or Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy.

Salary 
The salary for this post will commensurate with qualifications and experience.

A vacancy currently exists in the Department of Radiography for the post of Radiography Practice Demonstrator – area of specialisation Radiotherapy. 

The Department of Radiography 

The Department of Radiography was established within the then Institute of Health Care in 1992 to offer undergraduate education and training in Radiography (Diagnostic).  As from 2001, Radiography became a degree only profession.  The Department also offers a number of MSc courses in specialist routes such as CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine and Vascular Ultrasound and an MSc by Research. Students can also register with the Department to pursue PhD studies.  The Department also offers post graduate studies in Breast Imaging. As from October 2010 a new undergraduate programme leading to the award of a dual qualification in Radiography, diagnostic and radiotherapy started to be offered. The new graduates will be in possession of equal competences in these two branches of radiography. The Department is a member of the ERG Radiography Group and participates in a number of EU funded projects.

Key Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

The duties which the appointee may be expected to perform are:

  • Delivering tutorials, performing clinical demonstrations and supervision of practical work and placements;
  • Preparing course materials as directed;
  • Participating in the continuous assessment of students, in clinical study units;
  • Perform administrative duties as directed by the department;
  • Organising and participating in departmental events as required;
  • Using the University of Malta’s VLE (Moodle) to interact with students;
  • Administratively coordinating continuous assessment of students;
  • Participating in departmental meetings as required;
  • Identifying students who are encountering difficulties and providing additional support as needed;
  • Being available for consultation with students;
  • Preparing reports regarding student progress and attendance to clinical placements;
  • Any other relevant duties as may be required by the University.

The appointee is expected to work:

  • Forty (40) hours per week during each semester and summer period
  • At such places and during such hours as may be determined by the University authorities.

The Selection Procedures

  • The evaluation of qualifications and experience claimed and supported by testimonials and/or certificates (copies to be included with the application).
  • Short-listing of candidates.
  • An invitation to short-listed candidates to a Selection Board interview.

The Selection Process


In accordance with the guidelines, members of the Selection Board will establish the following selection criteria for the selection process:
  • Relevant academic qualifications 
  • Relevant experience and skills
  • Aptitude and suitability
  • Performance during the interview

The appointment will be subject to a probationary period of six month, and to the provisions of the Statutes, Regulations and Bye-Laws of the University which are now or which may hereafter be in force.
