Waiver of fees

As a benefit to all staff members and to incentivise and encourage staff to pursue their studies, Council has approved the waiving of fees for UM courses. This benefit has also been extended to dependants of council appointed UM staff.

UM employees who drop out of the course or fail to fulfil the requirements of the Course by the agreed completion date, are to pay the University an amount equivalent to the full fees waived by the UM. This applies to both UM staff following a UM course themselves and UM staff dependants benefitting from the waiving of the fee’s incentive.

The UM is binding its employees who are following a UM course and the employees whose dependents follow a UM course and decide to terminate their employment prior to the end of a binding period. The binding periods are as follows:

If the fee waiver is in respect of a Ph.D. Course or a Professional Doctorate Course (pegged Malta Qualifications Framework Level 8), the following penalty should apply:

If the fee waiver is in respect of a Master Degree or Postgraduate Diploma Course (pegged at Malta Qualifications Framework Level 7, the following penalty should apply:

If the fee waiver is in respect of a Bachelor Degree Course (pegged at Malta Qualifications Framework Level 6), the following penalty should apply: 

If the fee waiver is in respect of an Undergraduate Diploma Course (pegged at Malta Qualifications Framework Level 5), the following penalty should apply: 

If the fee waiver is in respect of any other Course, the following penalty should apply:
