The University of Malta launched its Green Travel Plan at an event on the 27th of September 2011. 


Present at the launch were all the members of the GTP Committee which is composed of:

  • Thérèse Bajada (Asst. Lecturer, Institute for Sustainable Development) 
  • Gayle Lynn Callus (President, Kunsill Studenti Universitari) 
  • Joseph Camilleri (Precincts Officer) 
  • Nathalie Cauchi (Non-academic and support staff representative) 
  • Jacqueline Fenech (Director, Human Resources) represented by Amanda Ciantar 
  • Raphael Mizzi (GTP Co-ordinator, Institute for Sustainable Development) 
  • Prof Luciano Mulè Stagno (UMASA representative) 
  • Maronia Schembri (Precincts Office) 
  • Perit Christopher Spiteri (Director, Estate and Works) 




The Government has identified Green Travel Planning as an important tool to achieve sustainability. The following link describes the Government's Environmental Corporate Responsibility in a number of sectors including Transport. Another example of how Governments are implementing similar initiatives include the UK Department of Transport  link to travel planning
