Faculty of ICT 'Lounge-Around' 2011

At this time of the year, as admissions period nears its end, students start visiting University asking about the various courses that are on offer. The Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) regularly receives requests for information on the content of faculty courses and related matters - in particular, course entry requirements. To better cater for the needs of potential students, this year the Faculty of ICT has once again organized an informal meeting between students, lecturers and other faculty staff, to discuss the various courses offered by the faculty. Members from both the academic and administrative staff community provided advice in a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere complete with sofas, background music and refreshments.

Prospective students were informed well prior to the event and invited to come and meet lecturers informally on the 19 July at the KSU Common Room between 10.00 and 12:00. This highly successful informal meeting, now in its second year, provided a welcoming atmosphere for interaction between interested students and Faculty staff, including the Heads of the various Departments, and the Dean, Dr Ernest Cachia, who besides explaining the different degree programme content, also provided information on prospective career opportunities. The Faculty programmes, always projected to the highest quality, have established recognition amongst many prestigious international Universities and industrial employers, both local and international, and have also proven themselves as a platform to  for successful students who wish to further their studies in post-graduate courses at the University of Malta, and abroad.

The faculty’s degree programmes offer specialisation in various areas of studies including Computer Science, and Intelligent Computer Systems, Communication and Computer Engineering and Micro and Nanoelectronics, and Computer Information Systems. Currently, the Faculty  offers a total of 13 streams at undergraduate degree level and 16 postgraduate degree courses at Masters level (both on a taught and research basis) and at Doctoral level.
