The Master in Environmental Management and Planning took an interdisciplinary approach to current issues of environmental concern, and was designed for those intending to pursue professions in various aspects of environmental management and planning, such as resource management applications and the drafting and implementation of environmental and planning policy. Learning outcomes included a solid understanding of key aspects of this broad discipline and of the complex issues with which professionals are often confronted. Furthermore, the course fostered an awareness not only of the science of environmental concerns, but also of their ethical, sociological and economic dimensions. Throughout the course, participants were trained in a range of skills from both the natural and social sciences, enabling them to critically tackle environmental matters in a holistic integrated fashion. Students also gained experience in practical applications through a range of hands-on projects throughout the course, and had the option of focusing on areas of particular interest to them through a range of elective study-units.

The duration of the full Master programme was eight semesters of part-time study, but students also had the option of graduating with a postgraduate diploma after four semesters of study. Details of the course programme and the bye-laws for this course, which last opened in February 2009, can be accessed here; if you would like to know whether the programme will be offered again at a future date, please contact Dr Anton Micallef.
