The Institute of Earth Systems took part recently, for the second year running, in the programme of activities organised at the Giovanni Curmi Higher Secondary School in Naxxar to mark the occasion of Earth Day. The event, held on 22 April 2016, centred on a range of activities for students, including a workshop, talks, a tree-planting activity and information stands, all with an overarching theme of education for sustainable development.

The Institute’s stand provided interested staff and students with information about the discipline of Earth Systems and about the Institute’s work in this field. Of particular interest was the B.Sc. (Hons) in Earth Systems course, opening next in October 2016. Students were briefed on the special subject requirements for entry to the course, and also had the opportunity to discuss career opportunities for graduates.
