POINT Workshop: Measuring sustainability

A workshop on the measurement of sustainability, in connection with the POINT research project on the policy influence of sustainability indicators was hosted by the IEI in 2009. The workshop which was held between the 3rd and the 5th March 2009, and was facilitated by Professor Stephen Morse (Professor of Sustainable Development, University of Reading) and Dr. Simon Bell (Senior Lecturer, Open University and Director of the Bayswater Institute).

The workshop brought together professionals from different fields who have experience in using sustainability indicators. During the workshop, participants:

•    Explored assumptions about key information usage;
•    Expanded on individual visions of how information could be better applied to maximum advantage;
•    Developed action plans to increase effectiveness in professional contexts;
•    Developed a network for professional exchanges. 

The Institute is one of nine international partners within the consortium collaborating on the POINT project.
