Assistant Lecturer

Mr Tony Meli is currently Head of Farm Advisory Services with APS Consult, having previously occupied the position of Director Rural Development at the Ministry for Resources & Rural Affairs as well as various managerial headship posts with the Department of Agriculture.

After graduating in agribusiness in Western Australia in 1983, Mr Meli obtained his MPhil in 1995 for a thesis on rural development and land use from the University of Dundee.  During the same year, he was admitted as a Certified Practising Agriculturist by the Australian Institute of Agricultural Science and was also awarded a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship, through which he carried out professional studies and training in environmental horticulture and land resource management at Cornell University in New York.

Mr Meli represented the Government of Malta at high level meetings on a number of occassions, including negotiations with the EU, and was Malta's expert representative in the EU's STAR and Rural Development Committees.  He has lectured at the University of Malta since 1993.
