Pre-Departure Preparations

Please ensure that you attend the pre-departure information sessions and that you submit all documents to the International Office and the Faculty prior to your departure.

The following documents should be submitted to the International Office 40 days prior to your departure:

• Erasmus+ Learning Agreement/Erasmus+ Training Agreement
• Programme of studies
• Resit Clearance Form
• Financial Identification Sheet
• Copy of Travel Insurance
• Flight Tickets Receipts
Online Linguistic Support

The following documents should be submitted to the Faculties/Institutes for signatures:

• Erasmus+ Learning Agreement/Training Agreement
• Programme of studies Form
• Resit Clearance Form

Please ensure that you have a valid travel document and that you know well in advance the final destination of our trip (trains, buses, taxis, etc).

As much as possible, try to make arrangements to arrive at your final destination during the day, particularly if you are taking up University accommodation.

Make sure that you secure accommodation prior to departure and start looking into these arrangements as soon as possible. It is the student’s responsibility to take out an appropriate insurance cover and have a valid EHIC document (EHIC document is valid for EU Countries only).

Seek out the address and contact details of the Maltese Embassy or High Commission in the country you will be staying in and take note of their emergency contact numbers.
Try to meet up with students who have studied at the same University abroad and students from that University who are undertaking an Erasmus period at the University of Malta.

Take time to prepare for your stay abroad period, read up and get to know the country you will be living in. If you think you might experience medical or psycho-social difficulties, speak to your medical practitioner or counselor and ensure that the University you will be visiting has structures providing for medical and counseling assistance.

The International Office also encourages students to leave a contact number of a family or other close relative or friend in Malta that we may contact in case of an emergency.
