TITLE Attendance at Seminars on Sport and Physical Education

DESCRIPTION Candidates will be required to attend accredited seminars/conferences related to Physical Education and Sport after consultation with the study-unit co-ordinator. They are also expected to participate actively in any discussion held during the seminar. In their final report students will be required to summarise the content of the seminar and critically analyse the discussions held during the seminar.

Study-Unit Aims:

The aim of this study-unit is to encourage students to attend a seminar or conference on sport and/or physical education and to participate actively in this event.

Participation in this event will provide students with an opportunity to keep abreast with the latest knowledge in the field of sport and to reflect on such knowledge and on the planning and organisation for such an event.

Learning Outcomes:

1. Knowledge & Understanding:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge about the topics covered in the conference;
- Acquire and gather the latest knowledge in the field of sport and physical education.

2. Skills:

By the end of the study-unit the student will be able to:
- Reflect on the presentations delivered during the seminar/conference;
- Reflect on the discussions and his/her input in these discussions;
- Reflect on the planning for such an event;
- Collaborate with other participants with an interest in sport and physical activity;
- Write a report which summarises the outcomes of the seminar/conference.

ADDITIONAL NOTES Before registering for the study-unit, prospective students are to present an acceptance letter for attending a selected conference or to consult the unit co-ordinator for approval. Otherwise registration is forfeited.
