UM IT Account agreement for students

The UM IT Account is being provided to you subject to the underlying agreement terms. May we remind you that you have agreed to subject yourself to these terms when you were activating your UM IT Account.

  • Your University of Malta email address and Google Workspace for Education (formerly known as G Suite for Education) are being provided to you for the duration of your studies at the University of Malta and subject to the University of Malta IT Services Acceptable Use Policy. After you complete your studies at the University of Malta, you will be able to continue making use of your University of Malta email address and Google Workspace for Education, subject to the clauses indicated further down.
  •
  • Services and facilities other than those referred to in the previous paragraph (e.g. wireless access) are also being provided to you by the University of Malta IT Services (hereinafter referred to as ‘IT Services’) for the duration of your studies at the University of Malta and subject to the University of Malta IT Services Acceptable Use Policy. Such services and facilities are to be used by you exclusively for academic and University-related work.
  •
  • The University of Malta or IT Services may send official notices to your University of Malta email address. Notice of termination of this account (when applicable) will be sent to you on this email address. Accordingly, you agreed to regularly monitor messages sent to your University of Malta email address and will ensure that the allocated quota is not exceeded.
  •
  • You have read the University of Malta IT Services Acceptable Use Policy, and agreed to subject yourself to the terms and conditions of such policy. Failure to abide by the University of Malta IT Services Acceptable Use Policy may lead to termination of the account prior to the end of your course of studies at the University of Malta and will make you liable to disciplinary action in terms of the University of Malta Disciplinary Regulations.
  •
  • After you complete your studies at the University of Malta and become a member of the University of Malta Alumni Community (refer to these criteria to become a UM alumnus/alumna), you will no longer be able to access the services and facilities available only to current students, with the exception of the University of Malta email address and Google Workspace for Education, this being contingent upon the continuance and renewal of the current agreement between the University and Google. You shall also be granted access to Alumni Online. Your access to the mentioned facilities and services shall be subject to your acceptance of the University of Malta Alumni Acceptable Use Policy. You agreed that by using or accessing any of these services (University email address, Google Workspace for Education and Alumni Online) at any time after you complete your studies at the University of Malta, you shall thereby be indicating your tacit acceptance of the terms and conditions of the University of Malta Alumni Acceptable Use Policy.
  •
  • The Google Workspace for Education service is a privilege offered by the University of Malta to its students and its alumni. The continued provision of the Google Workspace for Education service is contingent upon the continuance and renewal of the current agreement between the University of Malta and Google.
  •
  • You agreed to indemnify the University of Malta and its staff against any claims arising out of your use of the UM IT Account. It is your responsibility to maintain your own backup copies of data stored on IT Services facilities.
  •
  • If you are under 18 years old, certain additional services available through Google Workspace for Education may require your parent/legal guardian’s consent for their use. You confirmed to the University of Malta that you have obtained your parent/legal guardian’s consent for the use of these services.
