Note:

  • Activation of the SPSS licence requires an Internet connection and a licence code. This licence code is provided by email within one working day following payment.
  • Please make sure you download the correct SPSS version as indicated in the email containing your licence code.
  • For assistance, please contact our helpdesk.

Installing & Activating SPSS 23/24 (Windows & Mac)

Follow these instructions to download and activate the SPSS licence in one process: 

  1. Download SPSS 23/24 from IT Services.
  2. Run the downloaded setup file to begin the SPSS installation.

      SPSS 23:

      i.     When prompted for a license type, select Authorised User License.
      ii.    Proceed with the default options until the installation is complete.
      iii.   After the installation, the software will display a dialog box that prompts you to run the License
            Authorization Wizard. Select License my product now and click the Next button.

      SPSS 24:

      i.     Proceed with the default options until the installation is complete.
      ii.    Open SPSS. The software will display a dialog box that prompts you to run the License Authorization Wiz
      iii.   Select License Product and click the Next  button.
      iv.   Select Authorized user license and click the Next button.
      
  3. In the Enter Code field, type your licence code and click the Next button.
  4. The License Authorization Wizard will display a message indicating that the software has been successfully authorised on your computer system. Click the Next button.
  5. Click the Finish button.

Activating or Renewing the SPSS licence on Windows

These instructions assume that you already have a trial or an expired version of SPSS installed on your computer. 

  1. From the Start Menu, run the IBM SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard.

Windows 8 and later versions:

i.     Open the Start Menu.
ii.    Type IBM SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard. The program will be shortlisted, click on it.

Windows 7 and earlier versions:

i.     Open the Start Menu and click All Programs.
ii.    Click on the program group called IBM SPSS Statistics.
iii.   Click on IBM SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard.
  1. The wizard will display the License Status window, which shows the authorisation status for all detected SPSS components. Click the Next button.

      SPSS 23:

      •      On the Product Authorization window, select the button next to License my product now and click
              the Next button.

      SPSS 24:

      •      Select Authorized user license and click the Next button.

  2. In the Enter Code field, type your licence code and click the Next button.
  3. The License Authorization Wizard will display a message indicating that the software has been successfully authorised on your computer system. Click the Next button.
  4. Click the Finish button.

Activating or Renewing the SPSS licence on Mac

These instructions assume that you already have a trial or an expired version of SPSS installed on your computer.

  1. Open the SPSS Statistics License Authorization Wizard. By default, this is installed in:  
      SPSS 23 - /Applications/IBM/SPSS/Statistics/23 
      SPSS 24 - /Applications/IBM/SPSS/Statistics/24
  2. The wizard will display the License Status window, which shows the authorization status for all detected SPSS components. Click the Next button.

      SPSS 23:

      •      License my product now should be selected. Click the Next button.

      SPSS 24:

      •      Select Authorized user license and click the Next button.

  3. In the Enter Code field, type your licence code and click the Next button.
  4. The License Authorization Wizard will display a message indicating that the software has been successfully authorised on your computer system. Click the Next button.
  5. Click the Finish button.
