Consultation on UM Distance & E-Learning Policy 

The Distance & E-Learning Committee has prepared a draft policy [PDF] to guide the provision of distance and e-learning at the University of Malta. 

This policy provides guidance about the planning and approval of distance learning programmes / study-units, staff expertise, learning technologies, student information & support, and assessment of distance learning programmes / study-units. 

The proposed policy, based on policies / guidelines provided by other universities, is being published for university-wide consultation. 

Feedback should be sent to by 3rd June 2018



The Distance & E-Learning Committee (DEC) was set up in 2006 to propose the setting up and implementation of a University-wide policy and a support framework for e-learning and possibly other forms of distance learning. The composition of DEC for 2018 is:

E-Learning Strategy Development Framework 2012

DEC has published the E-Learning Strategy Development Framework 2012 [PDF] (UM Staff only). The framework aims to firmly embed e-learning as a key element of learning and teaching at the University of Malta (UM). This document takes into account recent developments in technology and educational approaches when using technology. The objectives presented in this document provide a framework for the progressive improvement of the e-learning experience of both students and staff at UM. This e-learning strategy development framework was published for university-wide consultation.
