Irish Leaving Certificate (ILC)
The Irish Leaving Certificate will be accepted as comparable to the Maltese Matriculation Certificate as indicated below. The ILC must always include Higher Level passes in a language, a science and a humanistic subject.
Moreover, a non-Maltese applicant may be allowed to offer instead of a SEC level pass in Maltese, another language as approved by the Admissions Board; provided that, such other language cannot be English and applicants whose mother tongue is English shall be required to offer a language other than English instead of Maltese.
To satisfy the General Entry Requirements, 6 Higher Level passes are required, including:
· 2 passes at H2; and
· 2 passes at H3; and
· 2 passes at H6
For admission to courses having Special Course Requirements, the following are required:
· A pass at H2 in the ILC will satisfy a grade C at Advanced Matriculation Level for a corresponding subject listed in the Special Course Requirements;
· A pass at H4 in the ILC will satisfy a grade D at Advanced Matriculation Level for a corresponding subject listed in the Special Course Requirements;
· A pass at H6 in the ILC will satisfy a grade C at Intermediate Matriculation Level for a corresponding subject in the Special Course Requirements
Applications for the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery Course
6 Higher level passes as follows: -
i. 2 passes at H1 in Biology and Chemistry; and
ii. 4 passes at H2 or better,
Provided that the passes at H1 in Biology and Chemistry and one pass1 at H2 are obtained together in one session of examinations (i.e. one sitting) and are from one Examining Board.
Applicants presenting the above grades in the ILC must sit for the Entrance Examination for Admission to Year 1 of the M.D. Course.

Applications for the Master of Dental Surgery Course
6 passes at Higher Level, of which:
· 2 passes at H1 in Biology and Chemistry; and
· 4 passes at H2 in Physics and 3 other subjects,
Provided that the passes at H1 in Biology and Chemistry and the one pass at H2 in Physics are obtained together in one session of examinations (i.e. one sitting) and are from one Examining Board.
