The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals (CILIP) is the leading professional body for librarians, information specialists and knowledge managers. CILIP exists to promote and support the people who work to deliver a fair and economically prosperous society, underpinned by literacy, access to information and the transfer of knowledge. The Institute strives to be the leading voice for information, library and knowledge practitioners, working to advocate strongly, provide unity through shared values and develop skills and excellence.

The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) is the leading international body representing the interests of library and information services and their users. It is the global voice of the library and information profession. Our members are national library associations, libraries of all types (national., academic, public, special libraries), and library and information educational institutions (faculties, schools) in approximately 150 countries.  IFLA is an independent, international, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization.  IFLA aims are to: promote high standards of provision and delivery of library and information services, encourage widespread understanding of the value of good library & information services and represent the interests of our members throughout the world.


The International Group of ExLibris Users (IGeLU) is the collective voice and advocate for users of ExLibris products. It represents over 350 institutions in over 40 countries around the world. IGeLU main aims are to reflect the needs and priorities of the ExLibris user community, to influence software development for the mutual benefit of product users and the company, to offer the community a forum for sharing information, documentation and resources, and to speak with one voice to ExLibris.  IGeLU works with its sister organisation, ExLibris Users of North America (ELUNA), and with over 30 independent national and regional user groups in lobbying for enhancements, development initiatives, and service improvements. IGeLU has a strong positive relationship with ExLibris and works in partnership on product enhancements, collaborative testing of new releases, and focus groups.

The Ligue des Bibliothèques Européennes de Recherche - Association of European Research Libraries (LIBER) is the main research libraries network in Europe. LIBER encompasses more than 420 national, university and other research libraries from more than 40 countries, within the European Union and beyond. Its remit is to create a functional network to systematically support and develop its mission to promote efficient information services, access to research information, innovative end-user services for teaching, learning and research, preservation of cultural heritage, and efficient and effective management.

The Malta Library & Information Association (MaLIA) was set up in 1969. The Association, run by an elected Council whose meetings are held at the University of Malta Library, aims to bring together and to provide a voice for persons in Malta engaged in the library, information and archive professions. MaLIA is a member of the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA), a founding member of the Commonwealth Library Association (COMLA), and a member the European Bureau of Library, Information and Documentation Associations (EBLIDA). MaLIA regularly publishes monographs and other material for educational and informational purposes.
