Level 2

Level 2 is designed for patrons who prefer to meet at the Library to discuss group assignments and projects.  The floor is furnished with kidney-shaped tables, sofas, armchairs, beanbags and workstations where students can comfortably conduct research.  Electrical outlets are provided throughout the floor for those patrons who prefer to work on their personal laptops and tablets.  Students and academics registered with the University of Malta may use the workstations available or their personal laptops by logging with their UoM username and password.

There are a number of workstations displaying the Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) where students can search for books, dissertations, audio-visual material together with Melitensia and Reference material available at the Main Library and its branch libraries.

Collections pertaining to Philosophy, Religion, Theology, History, Economics, Management and Finance are housed on this floor.  

The floor is equipped with a photocopying and a printing machine.  Patrons may purchase Library photocopy cards from the Circulation or Melitensia. For more details click here

Important Offices surround this floor namely the Office of the Director, Office Library Manager - Reader Services, Office Library Manager - Resources, Acquisitions and Cataloguing Departments as well as Melitensia Special Collection.

Level 3

Level 3 is a Silent Study Area, designed purposely for those patrons who prefer to carry out their study and research in a completely quiet environment.  Desks are equipped with electrical points for connecting to laptops and tablets.  Patrons are not permitted to leave unattended personal belongings on desks for more than 30 minutes. Librarians reserve the right to remove unattended belongings and are not liable for any damages or for lost items.

Collections pertaining to the Social Sciences, Law, Education, Music, Art and Architecture, Language and Literature, Sciences, Engineering, Window of Shanghai, oversize books and pamphlet boxes are housed on this floor.  

The floor is surrounded by the Archives and Rare Books Department, the Fine Arts Collection, and the Audio-visual Collection.  Furthermore, the Retro-conversion Unit, IT Office and Seminar Room are located on this floor.
