Abstract: The main aim of this investigation was to determine the reasons leading boys to discontinue their studies once obligatory education is over. Various factors including Previous School Experience, Personal and Psychological Characteristics, Family Responsibilities, Family Background, School Characteristics, and Social Influences were analyzed. Our research was conducted with 140 Form 4 male students from a College in the South of Malta. The study was carried out through the use of a questionnaire which was backed up by a Focus Group. From our research it was evident that for dropout to occur a mixture of causes must be present.
