Abstract: In times past, when the old pre-printed album was the only way of collecting stamps, many a collector cut off the wide margins and corner pieces of a stamp, in order to fit it into the space provided by the album. With the introduction of the loose leaf, however, all this has changed and nowadays the collectors are trying to get anything unusual on the stamps and the larger the margins the better. Abstract: Since the grant of Independence on 21st September 1964 the stamps of Malta have received a tremendous push right into the core of the philatelic world. The demand for these stamps is increasing daily to such an extent that certain sets issued two years ago are fetching prices of six to seven times their face value.</summary>
