Title: Speaking by behavior : a psychological interpretation of worrying non-autistic behaviors in adults with autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disability
Authors: Kamińska-Reyman, Jadwiga
Abstract: PURPOSE: The purpose of this article is to present the concept of a psychological interpretation
of worrying behaviors in adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and intellectual
disability (ID) who have severe speech limitations or do not speak. These behaviors were
called non-autistic because they do not belong to symptomatology of autism spectrum
disorders.; DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: Psychological interpretation of worrying non-autistic
behaviors in adults with ASD and ID was under qualitative research. The interpretative
phenomenological analysis (IPA) was used to find the meaning of worrying behaviors which
were observed in of a person with ASD and ID from their perspective. In the interpretation
from an external perspective, reference was made to professional experience, psychological
theories and scientific research results of various problems occurring in this group of people.; FINDINGS: Four types of themes (meanings) of worrying behavior in people with ASD and ID
have been found. (1) "I want – I don't want to", (2) "too much – too little", (3) "something bad
happened to me", (4) "something is wrong with me". Forms and functions of worrying behavior
were also descripted.; PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: This article will be helpful for caregivers working in institutions who
have taken over or will take over from parents the care of adults with ASD and ID.; ORIGINALITY/VALUE: It is an original approach in non-autistic worrying behaviors in people
with ASD and ID, as a way of speaking about their problems and using IPA to find their
meaning.

Title: Wisdom as a special value of pedagogy in the digital era
Authors: Morbitzer, Janusz
Abstract: PURPOSE: The aim of the article is to show selected changes taking place in the modern world,
in particular to draw attention to the enormous pace of technological and cultural changes
and the anthropocene epoch, i.e., the destruction of the natural environment. In order not to
bring about adverse consequences for people, these changes require a new look at education
systems and awakening of environmental awareness.; DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: The article is a contemporary scientific reflection, it is a
critical analysis of selected sources (monographs, journal articles and netographic sources).
The method of analysis and criticism of the literature was used, as well as in-depth own
reflection.; FINDINGS: Pedagogical reflection and a change in economic thinking is necessary - moving to
the so-called ecological economy, considering environmental costs, slowdown of growth,
departure from pro-market policy, focused only on profit, and in global education - education
towards wisdom and spirituality.; PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: The lack of information on the current initiation, the perpetuation of
the world's weak epidemics of idiocracy is the gradual destruction of our civilization. Too
great changes are required in the education system of the ages and an orientation towards
education towards wisdom and spirituality. Such a radical change in programming will also
contribute to increasing ontological support.; ORIGINALITY/VALUE: Linking contemporary global threats, including, above all, the enormous
destruction of the natural environment, with such axiological categories as wisdom,
knowledge, responsibility, control over emotions; indication of a possible way out of the
current crisis situation and the tasks of education in this area.

Title: Cross-cultural education and housing policy in Roma : non-Roma relations : case study of management by empowerment in qualitative perspective
Authors: Witkowski, Maciej
Abstract: PURPOSE: The article presents a case study of managing the process of social integration of
the Roma minority in Poland. In this context, the objective of the article is to present a
critical analysis of key practical aspects of managing cultural clashes using the OMC
method and pay attention to the usefulness of applying qualitative methods for monitoring
social integration processes.; DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: The argumentation is based on an analysis of qualitative
empirical material (160 in-depth qualitative interviews) related to the application of the
European OMC model in managing relationships with the Roma minority at a local level.; FINDINGS: The qualitative OMC methods for monitoring processes allow for obtaining an
alternative image of the course of management processes.; PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: Actual practical implementation of an in-depth approach of the
qualitative expertise in the OMC will contribute to more efficient and more thoughtful
solving of social problems at cultural crossroads.; ORIGINALITY/VALUE: Based on empirical data, the author argues that, in the case of solving
complex social problems related to the education of adults, the application of thorough
methods having a qualitative nature is a useful diagnostic tool used in the process of
managing the development of local communities. The argumentation is based on a
qualitative analysis of a vast and unique empirical material.

Authors: Walancik, Marek; Morbitzer, Janusz
Abstract: PURPOSE: The aim of the article is to get to know the meaning and influence on the behavior
and behavior of people of multicultural symbols appearing in the public space of the former
border town.; DESIGN/METHODOLOGY/APPROACH: The study was carried out using the diagnostic survey
method, the CAWI (Computer Assisted Web Interview) technique. The research was carried
out on a sample of 609 secondary school students.; FINDINGS: The data obtained in the research were analyzed. The results show that the
symbols of multiculturalism located in the public space of the city, which in the past was a
border town, are perceived by the inhabitants as shaping the skills in intercultural
communication, in building relationships, and accepting otherness.; PRACTICAL IMPLICATIONS: Based on the research, it should be concluded that the presence of
symbols of multiculturalism in public space may constitute a universe in general education,
in extracurricular education, and continuous education to counteract intolerance not only
among pupils and students, but the whole society, in emphasizing otherness.; ORIGINALITY/VALUE: The article shows that in extracurricular education, universal, universally
available solutions are required, referring to multiculturalism, drawing inspiration from the
past from memory, and best generally available in public space in real reality.
