Abstract: Waħda mill-pitturi importanti tas-surrealiżmu hija La persistencia de la memària (1931) ta' Salvador Dali. Minkejja li mhijiex pittura b'tema reliġjuża toffri meditazzjoni ikonografika dwar il-ħin, il-ħolm, u l-kuxjenza spiritwali fl-arti tasseklu għoxrin. Din il-pittura fuq tila żgħira hija magħrufa għall-arloġġi tagħha mdewba u li spiss ġiet interpretata psikoloġikament mil-laqta tal-ħsieb psiko-analitiku ta' Sigmund Freud u wkoll mil-laqta xjentifika tal-fiżika moderna. Madankollu lil hinn mill-psikoloġija u x-xjenza, il-pittura ġġorr fiha wkoII tifsira spiritwali u mistika. Jekk nersqu lejha minn din il-laqta simbolika din il-pittura tkellimna fuq iż-żmien li jgħaddi, l-eternità, u t-traxxendenza.</summary>

Abstract: Elif Shafak’s There are Rivers in the Sky (2024) brings together in one narrative three independent stories – one situated in the 19th century and two in the 20th. The stories flow naturally from an introductory story titled ‘By the River Tigris, in olden times’. Revolving around water and rivers, the three stories unfold into five sections: I. Raindrop; II. Mysteries of Water; III. Restless River; IV. Memories of Water; V. Flood. The central section focuses on the theme of a river that is restless. [excerpt]</summary>
