Abstract: In this article, the author examines some of the difficulties Maltese writers come across when they want to be as clear and open as they can in their writings, however they may not, simply because of lack of Maltese words. Do they resort to foreign words or do they settle for Maltese words which may have close meanings to the ones they wanted to use?
