Title: Experiences of a mature student at the University Gozo Centre
Abstract: It all happened when the author learnt that a BA course was to be offered on a part-time basis at the University Gozo Centre. Little did she know at that time that she was to complete a BA course which took five years to complete, followed by another three-year course leading to a Masters’ degree. She decided to start my academic studies at tertiary level in her late forties, a big challenge at a rather mature age, especially as she had a full-time job and a family of three children. At that time she was working at the Foundation for International Studies, an academic institution where scholars, academics and researchers met to hold conferences and workshops in order to present papers and exchange ideas. She was therefore already working in an academic environment, with a very interesting job organising international meetings. This was not a nine to five job, particularly because it involved corresponding with scholars hailing from all corners of the world.
