Title: Managerial organization in the CIS region : the case of Azerbaijan oil market
Authors: Musayeva, Aynura A.
Abstract: This article focuses on how foreign managerial structure could affect a
local company, and refers to the oil market of Azerbaijan. Although Azerbaijan
got independence from Former Soviet Union (FSU) the country still uses Soviet
system of managerial structure in the governmental organisations. In this article
we reviewed and analysed the difference in the managerial structures of foreign
and local oil companies: the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan republic (SOCAR)
in comparison with British Petroleum (BP) and STATOIL. These two companies
had shares in the same projects together with SOCAR in Azerbaijan and represent
major shareholders in total national production. Our conclusions indicate that in
Azerbaijan oil companies might be practicing European managerial structure,
which is improved and has a proved worldwide known system. By worldwide
system we meant practicing of improved managerial structures, International
Organisation for Standardization (ISO) and Health, Safety and Environment
(HSE) standards, which are unavoidable divisions of the construction projects.

the existence of structural funds. The economic and social disparities between the
member countries of European Union and between the regions of EU, too, is reduce
through these instruments. The integration of Romania in European Union in 2007,
and the use of structural funds in present and in the future, is an opportunity which

Authors: Maditinos, Dimitrios; Theriou, Nikolaos G.; Demetriades, Efstathios
Abstract: This study investigates the merger effects of two banks. The merger took place
in mid 1999s and the effect was the Alpha Bank. The research is performed in two
parts. The first part investigates the merger in the short-term, while the second part
investigates the long-term effects of the merger exploring the relative position of the
Alpha bank within the industry. Results show a beta-risk value for the Alpha bank
which is a reconciliation of the beta-risks coefficients of the two banks, and
moreover, reveal that Alpha bank is not only profitable but also competitive within
the industry.

Authors: Tsoukalidis, I.; Karasavvoglou, Anastasios; Mandilas, Athanasios; Valsamidis, Stavros
Abstract: Quality Function Deployment (QFD) methodology is applied in the
planning of new products/services or the improvement of existing
products/services, with the active participation of all departments of the
organization, minimizing the initial time of planning and also the cost of planning,
with parallel minimization of the failure possibilities of the product/service to
enter the market. The basic idea behind this method is to take into serious
consideration the “Wants” of the customers, so that they can be translated to
engineering characteristics of the product/service. The methodology was
introduced in Japan in the late ‘60s and about 15-20 years later entered USA,
while it is now applied in many organizations in Europe. In our work, we will
apply QFD in the planning of an alternative transportation system (paratransit)
in a “Kapodistrian” Municipality which constitutes many villages.
