Title: Ringing report for 1988 Abstract: This report covers the ringing activities of the Valletta Bird-Ringing Scheme of the M.0.S for the year 1988. The number of birds ringed was a record one and totaled 14,322 of 108 species. At the end of the year the grand total of birds ringed since 1965 stood at 189,893 of 159 species and 2 hybrids.

Mangion, Michael Sammut and Joe Sultana. Other contributors were: Denis Aspland, Alfred E. Baldacchino, Charles Galea Bonavia, Hugh Butcher, Denis Cachia, Richard Cachia Zammit, Victor Falzon, Mario Farrugia, Max Farrugia, Nataline Fenech, John Grech., Hanna and John Middleton, Ian Mifsud, Richard Perry, Paul Portelli, Silvio Scicluna, Martin A. Thake, Paul Vamey and Louis Vella. Other members may have contributed to the daily log kept at the Ghadira Nature Reserve, which records were subsequently added to the national daily and species logs.

Title: Il-Merill : bulletin of the Ornithological Society no. 26 Abstract: The aim of Il-Merill is to serve as a medium for the publication of the annual systematic list of birds recorded in the Maltese Islands and the annual ringing report, both produced by the Ringing & Research Committee of the MOS, as well as for the publication of papers and short notes primary relating to the study of birds in the MaItese Islands. Accordingly the editorial board welcomes contributions treating any aspect of the ornithology of the Maltese Islands and the Mediterranean for publication in this journal.
