<summary type="text">Title: Ringing report 1967-70 and recoveries in Malta of birds ringed abroad
Abstract: This is the second ringing report published by the Malta Ornithological Society. The first one - 'Malta Bird Observatory ... Report for 1966' - was published in 1957 and reported on the birds ringed from September 1965 to December 1986. Since then the title of the Group - 'Malta Bird Observatory' - has been changed to M.O.S. Bird Ringing Group. As we lacked a permanent observatory that title was rather misleading. Furthermore, several localities in various parts of the Islands have been used as ringing sites. The Ringing Group is engaged in studying various aspects of Maltese Ornithology, one of which is the keeping of a daily log of all birds occurring in Malta. As a result, the status of a substantial number of species has been totally revised. The Systematic List for the years 1967-70 published in 'Il-Merill' No. 5, August 1971, and 'Bird Studies on Filfla' published by the M.O.S. in 1970 were both the results of the Ringing Group.
